As an editor for the San Diego Poetry Annual, I implemented a rubric for choosing poems in a spreadsheet. I list what I like about poetry such as originality, insight, imagery, metaphor, and honesty and score these in values of 1 to 5. I then use the weighted sum to determine whether or not to publish the poem. My method is not objective because the categories and weights are my opinion. The histogram shows 12 years of scores.
